Miss Stated, Part 2
I've had some feedback to my 10-05-03 blog about phrases or buzzwords that annoy the heck out of me. Apparently I am not the only one out there whose ears (and nerves) are worn out by business buzzwords.
My friend Paula, who quite obviously works in a corporate environment, had these comments to add:

My friend Paula, who quite obviously works in a corporate environment, had these comments to add:
- 24/7 (Why would anyone want anything to be 24/7 except
maybe security and emergency health care?) - Slam Dunk (Why is it that corporate slaves feel the need to use sports
metaphors for everything? Is it intended to somehow make the banal seem
interesting?) - Grab the Low-Hanging Fruit (Are we monkeys seeking nourishment? It just
seems so goofy. Why not say we're going to focus the project on what makes
sense. Duh.) - Mission-Critical (Roger, Houston! Maybe this phrase is used to create hype and add
unrealistic importance to what the average corporate slave does each day. Unless
you are dealing with health care or security, what could possibly be THIS important?) - Drop Dead Date (So if the project isn't done on time, life as we know it is over?
Sounds a little stressful to me.)
Thanks, Paula!
